Is Burtons Closing Down?

All of Dorothy Perkins, Wallis and Burton's stores are set to permanently close with a loss of around 2,500 jobs after online clothing giant Boohoo agreed a £25.2 million buy out deal. It means all of controversial business tycoon Sir Philip Green's Arcadia group's brands have now been taken out of administration.

Why did Burtons close?

As with all clothing companies, which have been deemed non-essential during the coronavirus crisis, the physical stores for Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Wallis are currently closed due to lockdown restrictions. These shops won't reopen as the remaining stock has been sold to Boohoo as part of the deal.

Is Burton closed down?

Three major Burton clothes shops will not be reopening after lockdown. The town's Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Topshop branches have closed down after the brands were bought out. Most of the stores' workers look set to lose their jobs.
