When Do Testes Develop?

Normal Testis Development. At 3 weeks of development, the germ cells migrate from the yolk sac to the genital ridge. From the 4th to the 8th week, in male embryos with a normal sex determining region on the short arm of the Y chromosome, the germ cells coalesce to form the primordial testis.

Where does the testes develop from?

Testis. The testis is developed in much the same way as the ovary, originating from mesothelium as well as mesonephros. Like the ovary, in its earliest stages it consists of a central mass covered by a surface epithelium.

How do you tell if your testes are growing?

When will my testicles begin to grow? Your testicles will grow in the early stages of puberty, between the ages of 10 to 13. As your testicles grow, the skin around the scrotum -- the sac that holds the testicles -- will darken, hang down, and begin to develop hair.
