Pseudoscorpions live in many habitats and are often found in cracks, crevices and similar spaces. They like high humidity and are found in leaf litter, moss, under tree bark and stones, and in bird and mammal nests. They enter homes by hitching rides on larger insects (e.g. flies and beetles) or on firewood.
What states do pseudoscorpions live?
They live in cold regions like Northern Ontario and above the timberline in the Rocky Mountains. They are most abundant and diverse in warm tropical regions. They are found beneath tree bark, in tree hollows, and in leaf litter.
Why are pseudoscorpions in my house?
When they do end up in homes, they're usually found among dusty books full of mites, or in damp areas like basements, bathrooms, laundry rooms, or around drains. During cold weather or while mating or molting, pseudoscorpions also make disk-shaped cocoons by spinning silk from a gland in their jaws.
