This simple process occurs using a detacher device which is mounted or installed in the counter at the Point of Sale. Either a mechanical device or a high-powered magnet, the detacher releases the security tag's locking mechanism and allows the tag to be removed. Tags can then be re-used on other products.

How do stick on security tags work?

The tag is a small “signal transmitter” that you put on the merchandise that you want to protect. The tag will signal to the EAS antennas to make them alarm if they come to close. E.g. if someone is trying to steal the item and take them through the exit without paying/removing the tag.

How do you demagnetize security strips?

To deactivate the magnetic security strip, all that need be done is to magnetize the strip along its length. This can be done by applying a sufficiently strong magnetic field along the length of the strip.
