A procedure is a document that instructs workers on executing one or more activities of a business process. It describes the sequence of steps, and specifies for each step what needs to be done, often including when the procedure should be executed and by whom.

What is a procedure Why is it important?
The procedure will define things like what activities are to be done, who performs them, what is the purpose, how it is performed and then who is responsible for the procedure. Once worked through, it provides an efficient way of performing the task and in a consistent way.
