The EGR valve in your vehicle, also known as the exhaust gas recirculation valve, is not necessary for your vehicle to run properly and therefore a lot of people don't think they need to get it replaced when something goes wrong. Yes, your car can run without it, but it should not run without it.

As per my research and going through the threads on EGR valves its OK to run without EGR. Yes it might affect the environment but no harm to engine as such. there are people who are running without EGR for more than 50k km.

Is it good to remove EGR?

EGR deleting is the most highly recommended solution. This is achieved by reprogramming the ECU to not use the EGR valve. This will result in cooler engine temperatures straight away, as well as improved throttle response and better fuel economy.
