Truth: Ovulation Doesn't Always Occur on Day 14 of Your Cycle. Ovulation might occur on day 14 of your cycle. But…it also might not. Ovulating as early as day 6 or 7 or as late as day 19 or 20 isn't uncommon or abnormal.
Is it bad to ovulate early?
Early ovulation has sometimes been thought to signal a less fertile cycle. For example, some authorities state that a cycle is seldom fertile when ovulation occurs before day 13 of the menstrual cycle. We found no evidence of this. Indeed, the earliest ovulation in our study (cycle day 8) produced a healthy infant.
How early can you ovulate after period?
Many women typically ovulate around 12 to 14 days after the first day of their last period, but some have a naturally short cycle. They may ovulate as soon as six days or so after the first day of their last period. And then, of course, there's sperm. It turns out those little swimmers can be pretty tricky, too.
