responsa, Hebrew Sheʾelot U-teshubot, (“questions and answers”), replies made by rabbinic scholars in answer to submitted questions about Jewish law. These replies began to be written in the 6th century after final redaction of the Talmud and are still being formulated.
When was the Midrash written?
It was compiled by Shimon ha-Darshan in the 13th century CE and is collected from over 50 other midrashic works. Midrash HaGadol (in English: the great midrash) (in Hebrew: מדרש הגדול) was written by Rabbi David Adani of Yemen (14th century).
Where was the responsa written?
Fourteenth century
The responsa of the RoSH first appeared at Constantinople in 1517 under the title "She'elot u-Teshubot", while an enlarged edition was published at Venice in 1607.
