The dibbler is a solitary, mostly crepuscular species. The dibbler is found in southwestern Western Australia, where it is located on Boullanger Island, Whitlock Island and Escape Island (translocated) off Jurien Bay.

Threats: The Dibbler is threatened by loss of habitat caused by land clearing, die-back disease and wildfires. Introduced predators such as foxes and cats also prey on them.

The Dibbler, a small nocturnal marsupial, has already dodged the extinction bullet once. In the late 60's, the species was rediscovered, after being presumed extinct. Numbers aren't great still, less than 1000 Dibblers remain in the wild.
