How Did Vera Die?

How Did Vera Die?

When she opens the door, she finds a noose with a chair under it. This invitation convinces Vera to hang herself, and she dies, believing that Hugo is in the room and approves of her suicide.

Why did Vera kill herself and then there were none?

Wargrave knew that Vera would hang herself because: 1. he knew that, of the 9 guests, Vera is the one with the heaviest guilt, and 2. he knew that the mental burden she's been carrying is already too much to handle, and that it would eventually lead her to take her own life.

Does Vera Claythorne die?

Vera Elizabeth Claythorne is the ninth to die, in the manner laid out in the poem. In 1935, she left a child, Cyril Hamilton, to drown on the Devon coast. Before hanging herself, she shoots Philip Lombard out of panic, all according to Justice Wargrave's plans.
