Since my city accepts all plastics besides cling wrap, straws and utensils, I can recycle my palettes and compacts, etc. But first, remember to wash them clean and empty any product left into a sealed container for the trash. If it's lipstick or mascara — any tube, really — that will most likely end up in the landfill.
How do you dispose of old compacts?
Turn those old makeup compacts into a solid perfume container. It's as easy as melting some beeswax or coconut oil and adding your favorite essential oil or fragrance. Just make sure you clean out all of the makeup residue and then pour your custom perfume into the old makeup compact where it will solidify as it cools.
Can you recycle makeup compacts?
All you have to do is collect all your unwanted beauty packaging in a postage box (it doesn't have to be clean, just make sure any excess product is removed), sign up to TerraCycle in your respective country, download and print off a shipping label for your box, then post it for free to your local recycling depot.
