Mold will very often appear white when it is first developing and later change color after producing spores. While other mold will remain white throughout it's lifecycle due to the type of material that it is feeding on. No matter what the color of the mold present in your home, it should be removed.

Is white mold bad?

Like most mold types, white mold ruins the structural integrity of a home or building by eating away its foundation—like fungal termites. Like black mold, white mold can cause many health problems, such as respiratory infections, dizziness, allergic reactions, headaches, and eye and skin irritations.

Can black mold look white?

With the exception of Stachybotrys chartarum (also known as “black mold”), indoor molds can range in color from white to white-green, gray-green, green and shades of brown. Black mold is considered to be one of the most toxic types of molds.
