Some lasts have broad, round, toe areas (toe box), and some lasts have more narrow and pointed toe boxes. Because of the different last shapes, the various Alden shoe models fit differently and vary in size. Some models fit approximately 1/2 size larger than others.

Do Alden shoes run true to size?

Most of our customers find this last True To Size, but some do size down 1/2 size.

How does the Alden van last fit?

Alden's Van last has a full fitting due to its large and boxy toe area. Compared to the Barrie last, it is shorter and more narrow. People with a low instep feel the need to size down 1/2, while others go true-to-size.
