Ethash is a proof-of-work mining algorithm implemented by the Ethereum network and Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies. Ethash is a successor of the previous Ethereum algorithm called Dagger-Hashimoto and is, in fact, an upgrade of it.
Which algorithm does Ethereum use?
Ethereum uses the Keccak-256 cryptographic hash function in many places. Keccak-256 was designed as a candidate for the SHA-3 Cryptographic Hash Function Competition held in 2007 by the National Institute of Science and Technology.
Does Ethereum use sha256?
Ethereum uses KECCAK-256.
