Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza sativa or less commonly Oryza glaberrima. The name wild rice is usually used for species of the genera Zizania and Porteresia, both wild and domesticated, although the term may also be used for primitive or uncultivated varieties of Oryza.
Is rice considered high fiber?
Beans, peas, lentils, and rice make tasty high-fiber additions to soups and stews. Don't leave out the legumes. Add kidney beans, peas, or lentils to soups or black beans to a green salad.
What does rice do to your bowels?
White rice can lead to constipation because the husk, bran, and germ have been removed. That's where all the fiber and nutrients are! Brown rice can help relieve constipation because the husk, bran, and germ have not been removed.
