How do you fix ischemic bowel?
Treatment
- Antibiotics, to prevent infections.
- Intravenous fluids, if you are dehydrated.
- Treatment for any underlying medical condition, such as congestive heart failure or an irregular heartbeat.
- Avoiding medications that constrict your blood vessels, such as migraine drugs, hormone medications and some heart drugs.
What foods should I avoid with ischemic colitis?
Watch out for items that can be troublemakers if you have UC, including:
- Alcohol.
- Caffeine.
- Carbonated drinks.
- Dairy products, if you're lactose intolerant.
- Dried beans, peas, and legumes.
- Dried fruits.
- Foods that have sulfur or sulfate.
- Foods high in fiber.
