Why Is Close Mindedness Bad?

Challenging Ideas
Closed-minded people don't want their ideas challenged. They are typically frustrated that they can't get the other person to agree with them instead of curious as to why the other person disagrees. Closed-minded people are more interested in proving themselves right than in getting the best outcome.

Is it good being close minded?

But I've come to realize that closed-mindedness has benefits: Equilibrium is comfortable. We work for years, perhaps decades, to develop and refine our core opinions and the way we work, interact, play, and think. It's not fun to have that shaken because someone says they have a better idea.

Is being open minded a bad thing?

Being open-minded is generally considered a positive quality. It is a necessary ability in order to think critically and rationally. If you are not open to other ideas and perspectives, it is difficult to see all of the factors that contribute to problems or come up with effective solutions.
