Who should consider ICSI? ICSI is considered absolutely necessary is in the case of male factor infertility with an abnormal semen analysis. In the Bay Area, however, about 75 percent of all IVF cases are now ICSI.
When should you have ICSI?
Your doctor may recommend ICSI if: you have a very low sperm count. your sperm are abnormally shaped (poor morphology) or they don't move normally (poor motility) you've had IVF previously and none, or very few of the eggs fertilized.
