Wauseon is a city in and the county seat of Fulton County, Ohio, United States approximately 31 mi west of Toledo. The population was 7,332 at the 2010 census.
How did Wauseon Ohio get its name?
Wauseon is the county seat of Fulton County. Residents named the town in honor of Wauseon, a Potawatomi Indian chief. Although the Ohio legislature established Fulton County in 1850, Wauseon did not become the county seat until 1870. The village formed in 1854, and E.L. Hayes constructed the town's first building.

It was Hortensia Hayes, daughter of one of the town's first businessmen, that suggested the name of Wauseon, Chief of the Ottowas to the early town leaders.
