Does Fortune hoe give more saplings?

Fortune will generally give you more saplings and apples and much more melon slices when you break the watermelons. Amount of items in the drop increases by 1, 2, or 3 or specified limits depending upon the level of Fortune on the axe when used on potatoes, sweet berries, carrots, and wheat seeds.

Does Fortune 3 work for saplings?

It works for nether wart, potatoes, carrots, glowstone, melons, and wheat (you get more seeds, not more wheat). I also think when you chop down a tree, you get more saplings/apples, but I think it is most likely false.
