Do Winter Aconites Spread?

Do Winter Aconites Spread?

Plants from bulbs tend to be slow to establish large colonies. When growing in conditions it likes, winter aconite reproduces easily and spreads readily to form large colonies – almost to the point of being invasive. Lift clumps while still green to keep under control, if desired, or when overcrowded.

Do aconites spread?

Winter aconites spread underground and so you want to plant them with room to grow. Never cut or mow aconite leaves or stems until they have completely died back. Lift, separate and then replant overcrowded areas immediately after flowering (just follow these instructions for replanting)

What to do with Aconites after flowering?

Winter aconites are best divided immediately after flowering and replanted. However, once they are established, they will self-seed. You can help them along by collecting seed from the plants and scattering by hand. Or sow immediately in containers.
