In biogeography, the Neotropic or Neotropical realm is one of the eight terrestrial realms. This realm includes South America, Central America, the Caribbean islands, and southern North America.
Where is the Neotropical region?
The Neotropical region is here defined as Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. Although parts of South America are not tropical, we include the entire region in the definition.
Is Florida in the Neotropics?
Essentially the Neotropical kingdom covers all but the extreme southern tip and southwestern strip of South America; Central America; Mexico, excluding the dry north and centre; and beyond to the West Indies and the southern tip of Florida (Figure 1).
