How do I know if my philodendron is root bound?
Examine the roots for any signs of disease or discoloration. Healthy philodendron roots are white or light tan and pliable. Trims off brittle or mushy roots and discard. If the plant is root-bound, make several vertical cuts from the top to the bottom around the perimeter of the root ball.
How long should philodendron roots be before potting?
If you'd prefer to pot your rooted cutting, wait until the roots around about an inch long before moving the cutting into a container that's about 3-4 inches wide and filled with fresh potting soil. Keep your newly potted philodendron well watered to help it adapt to its new home.
