Winter wheat is planted in the fall and harvested in the summer. It needs a good root system and the beginnings of shoots before cold weather sets in. Spring wheat is planted in early spring, as soon as possible, and harvested in late summer.
In which month winter wheat is grown?
Winter wheat is planted from 20 September to 10 October, and harvested from 25 June to 30 June, with yield advantage of 2.0–2.5 t ha−1 in comparison with spring wheat. With the replacement of spring wheat by winter wheat, maize yield also increased around 750 kg ha−1 owing to the early harvesting of winter wheat.
