What is the use of Linux?

In many ways, Linux is similar to other operating systems you may have used before, such as Windows, OS X, or iOS. Like other operating systems, Linux has a graphical interface, and types of software you are accustomed to using on other operating systems, such as word processing applications, have Linux equivalents.

What is Linux and how does it work?

The kernel is the core of the Linux operating system which schedules processes and interfaces directly with the hardware. It manages system and user I/O, processes, devices, files, and memory. Users input commands through the shell, and the kernel receives the tasks from the shell and performs them.
