Linux User Accounts run on a very strict privilege basis, and the Root OS files are hard to impossible for viruses to access. Linux also extremely frequently updates their product, so any holes or flaws are patched almost immediately. Therefore the easier venues of Windows are more likely to be attacked then Linux.

Why is there no virus in Linux?

Some people believes that Linux still has a minimal usages share, and a Malware is aimed for mass destruction. No programmer will give his valuable time, to code day and night for such group and hence Linux is known to have little or no viruses.

Viruses and malware are incredibly rare in Linux. They do exist though the likelihood of getting a virus on your Linux OS is very low. Linux based operating systems also have additional security patches that are updated regularly to keep it safer.
