Where are program files on Linux?

It is because linux move the installed file to directories separately based on their type.

• Executable goes to /usr/bin or /bin .
• Icon goes to /usr/share/icons or on ~/. …
• Whole application (portable) on /opt .
• Shortcut usually on /usr/share/applications or on ~/.local/share/applications.
• Documentation on /usr/share/doc.
