Set up the Google Pay app
- Make sure your phone is running Android Lollipop (5.0) or higher.
- Download Google Pay.
- Open the Google Pay app and follow the setup instructions.
- If you have another in-store payment app on your phone: In your phone’s Settings app, make Google Pay the default payment app.

Do you need NFC to use Android Pay?
To use Google Pay in stores, using NFC, you must first set it up. If you already had Android Pay, your app will be updated and your card information carried over automatically. Once you are set up, it’s time to try it out at the store. Your phone must be running Android Kitkat 4.4 or higher, and have NFC.
