CUPS clients usually read the current PPD file from the server every time a new print job is created. It is located in /usr/share/ppd/ or /usr/share/cups/model/ .
Where do I find PPD files?
The Use PPD files attribute is located in the Print Manager drop-down menu of Solaris Print Manager. This default option enables you to select the printer make, model, and driver when you add new printer or modify an existing printer.

Installing PPD File From the Command Line
- Copy the ppd file from the Printer Driver and Documentations CD to the “/usr/share/cups/model” on the computer.
- From the Main Menu, select Applications, then Accessories, then Terminal.
- Enter the command “/etc/init. d/cups restart”.
