What is the display variable in Linux?
The DISPLAY variable is used by X11 to identify your display (and keyboard and mouse). Usually it’ll be :0 on a desktop PC, referring to the primary monitor, etc. If you’re using SSH with X forwarding ( ssh -X otherhost ), then it’ll be set to something like localhost:10.0 .
How do I see displays in Linux?
Basic Linux Screen Usage
- On the command prompt, type screen .
- Run the desired program.
- Use the key sequence Ctrl-a + Ctrl-d to detach from the screen session.
- Reattach to the screen session by typing screen -r .
