How do I unlink a linked file in Illustrator?

Select an embedded image in your document, and do one of the following:

1. In the Control panel, click Unembed.
2. From the Links panel menu, choose Unembed.

Select all and hit Ctrl + Shift + G a few times to ungroup everything.
