There are no “layers” in SVG, and no real concept of depth. SVG does not support CSS’s z-index property, so shapes can only be arranged within the two-dimensional x/y plane.
Are SVG files layered?
When you open an SVG file in Silhouette Studio, all the layers will be grouped together. If you select the file, it all moves as one piece. If you leave it that way, you will only be able to use one type of material to cut out the entire file.

You might come across SVG files that aren’t arranged in a way of your liking. In Cricut Design Space you can easily arrange and align the layers with the features available in the toolbar.
