- Open File Explorer.
- Click on the View tab.
- Click Options to open Folder Options.

- Make sure to clear the check mark for the Always show icons, never thumbnails option.
- Click Apply.

Why are thumbnails not showing?
Thumbnail Previews not showing. This will clear your Thumbnail cache. Next, open Control Panel and click open Folder Options. Here under the View tab, ensure that Always show icons, never thumbnails is unchecked.
How do I restore my thumbnails?
That’s what you need to do:
- Click on the Windows icon to open the Start menu.
- Locate and click Control Panel.
- Select System and open Advanced system settings.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab.
- Proceed to the Visual Effects tab.
- Make sure to check the Show thumbnails instead of icons option.
- Click Apply.
