Sash window
What is the difference between single and double hung windows?
Compare Double Hung vs. Single Hung. On double hung windows, both sashes in the window frame are operable or move up and down. On single hung windows, the top sash is fixed in place and does not move, but the bottom sash is operable.
Are double hung windows cheaper than single?
In a single-hung window the bottom panel, or sash, moves vertically, while the upper sash remains stationary. They are cheaper than double-hung windows; in fact, according to Sven Kramer of Stanek Windows by Great Day Improvements, LLC, single-hung windows can cost 10-20% less than their double-hung competitor.
