What is the cd command in Unix?
The change directory (cd) command is built into the system shell and changes the current working directory. The cd command can be used to either change to a directory that is relative to the the location of the current working directory or to an absolute location in the filesystem.
How does cd command work?
The cd command is used to change the current directory (i.e., the directory in which the user is currently working) in Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. It is similar to the CD and CHDIR commands in MS-DOS. The items in square brackets are optional.
