At the moment, there is no full equivalent to tablet mode in Linux, except Ubuntu Tablet, which you cannot install but only have by buying the tablet. There are some distributions that do support touchscreen features, but they don’t support rotation and other full tablet functionalities.

Is there a Ubuntu for tablets?

Refreshing and easy to work with. In its current state, our OS is designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. Ubuntu Touch offers a completely refreshing approach to the mobile experience.

Does Ubuntu work with a touch screen?

Yes, it can! According to my experience, Ubuntu 16.04 works perfectly with touch screen and 2 in 1 devices. I have Lenovo X230 Tablet and all of its features, including the Wacom stylus (and 3G module), work better under Ubuntu than under Windows.
