If it’s Nougat or above, Android System Webview is disabled because its function is covered by Chrome now. To activate WebView, just turn off Google Chrome and if you want to disable it, just reactivate Chrome again.
How do I enable WebView on Android?
How to enable Android System Webview app on Android 5 and above:
- Go to the settings of your smartphone or tablet and open Settings > “Apps”;
- In the list of apps find Android System Webview and tap it;
- If the “ENABLE” button is active, tap on it and the app should launch.
Should Android System WebView be disabled?
Although it is not recommended to disable the app for Android versions of Marshmallow and lower. If you are using Android Nougat or any versions above it, disabling Android System Webview is fine. As Google Chrome has taken up the task of rendering it for entire device.
