When installing Linux Mint:
- Assign the / mount point to the partition dedicated to the operating system, and tell the installer to format it.
- Assign the /home mount point to the partition dedicated to the user data, and if it contains user data already, make sure to tell the installer not to format it.
How do I create a partition in Linux Mint 20?
Use GParted from a live Mint DVD/USB to create the partitions for your installation(s). (You can do it from within the installer also, but GParted is easier.) Or, use it to make changes, additions, etc. to the partitions you have and to create the data partition. Format the data partition according to your needs — eg.
