Chimineas need stands or legs because they get really hot. Your chiminea should never be in direct contact with the ground as it will quickly become a fire hazard. It must always be raised off the ground. You may notice that all stands and chimineas have 3 legs – this is what makes them extra stable.
What do you put under a chiminea?
Specially made fire pit mats are available in the market. You can place them underneath your chiminea to give your deck better protection from the heat. Keeping water and a fire extinguisher handy at all times to extinguish any flying embers that land on the deck will also help in minimizing the risk.
Does a chiminea have to have a stand?
All chimineas must be placed on a stand if they are not crafted with built on legs. This is essential, as the fire bowl of the chiminea can become dangerously hot and present a fire hazard if placed directly on the floor. They also need to be placed carefully, without flammable materials such as branches nearby.
