Why Are These Lines Bracketed?

The last two lines of the poem have been put within brackets as they do not form the part of the conversation between the poet and the rain. The lines in the bracket indicate the reflections, observations and thoughts of the poet.

Why has the poet used brackets in the poem Amanda?

Answer : Stanzas 2, 4 and 6 are given in parenthesis because they reflect the inner thoughts of Amanda. They can be taken as the reaction of the child for the instructions given in stanzas 1, 3 and 5. Here, there is an alternate sequence of scolding of the mother, and corresponding reaction to it given by the child.

Why are brackets used in poems?

Writers use parenthesis when they want to convey information that's secondary to the main point of their writing. This might be to explain something they've already said, add something to it that's interesting but not necessary.
