False polyembryony involves fusion of two or more nucelli or development of two or more embryo sacs within the same nucellus. In true polyembryony the additional embryos arise in the embryo sac either by cleavage of the zygote or from the synergids and antipodal cells.
What is true polyembryony?
True polyembryony is the common instance of the production of embryos with the projection into a single embryo sac. The additional embryos are created either from cleavage of a zygote or from antipodal cells and synergids.
How many types of polyembryony are there?
There are two different types of polyembryony: Induced Polyembryony – experimentally induced. Spontaneous Polyembryony – naturally occurring.
