Since quarry tiles are made from dense clay, their absorption rate is quite low, meaning that it's not compulsory to seal them. However, if you're using them in high traffic areas like in a kitchen or hallway, where staining is more likely, you could seal with LTP Mattstone Sealer.
Do you have to seal unglazed tile?
You do not need to seal the surfaces of most ceramic and porcelain. Some do require a light application of a penetrating sealer to fill the micro pores on the surface of the tile. Seal all unglazed tiles, including dense porcelains, prior to grouting.
How do you care for quarry tiles?
Multi-purpose products or plain soap and water used regularly are sufficient to keep quarry tile clean. Avoid using no-rinse enzymatic or acid-based cleaners as the combination of heat, food contaminants and cleaner will cause the grout to become soft and will permanently damage it.
