What is the purpose of Litz wire?
Litz wire is a particular type of multistrand wire or cable used in electronics to carry alternating current (AC) at radio frequencies. The wire is designed to reduce the skin effect and proximity effect losses in conductors used at frequencies up to about 1 MHz.
Is Litz wire better?
The Litz wire has the advantage that its surface area is greater than a solid wire of the same size. The increase in diameter for the Litz wire is offset by an increase in flexibility for the new multi-wire conductor. With any wire type, insulation is important.
