"Cause and effect" is a relationship between events or things, where one is the result of the other or others. This is a combination of action and reaction. Something happens (a cause) that leads to an effect.
How do you know if its a cause and effect relationship?
There are three criteria that must be met to establish a cause-effect relationship:
- The cause must occur before the effect.
- Whenever the cause occurs, the effect must also occur.
- There must not be another factor that can explain the relationship between the cause and effect.
What is a cause and effect relationship called?
The cause and effect relationship between two variables is also called causation.
