Drainage grooves help liquids escape flat surfaces. On kitchen worktops, they are extremely useful because they allow water and other liquids to easily drain into a sink. Do I need drainage grooves? While drainage grooves are not essential for a kitchen worktop, they do make life easier when cleaning up.
What is drainer grooves?
Drainer grooves stop the water from creeping along the counter top, getting the surface wet and eventually dripping onto your kitchen floor. By the inclusion of subtle grooves, water channels along the drainage area and lands into the sink. The position, length and pattern can be selected by you to suit your needs.
Can you have drainer grooves in laminate worktop?
The worktops usually have grooves fitted to assist drainage. Drainer grooves would not work with a laminate worktop as laminate is only 1mm thick or less; not deep enough to take a drainer groove.
