Sonic is known as "America's Drive-In" but has discontinued the most iconic American frozen treat: the malt. Since they were introduced, malts have been elevating the simple milkshake to levels of heavenly perfection.

Does Sonic Drive In have malts?

No malts. I don't often indulge in ice cream based beverages, but when I do, I want a malt, not one of those flavor deprived milk shakes. So, I was very disappointed today when I was told,at this Sonic, that they no longer serve malts. Fortunately, there's a DQ a block away that serves a well made malt.

Why are malts better than shakes?

While both these beverages contain a lot of sugar and saturated fats, a malt is slightly better for your health. This is mainly because of the malted milk powder which contains vitamins D, B2, B6, selenium, and potassium.
