Then, in October 2020, the old Army Physical Fitness Test was discontinued. In other words, by March 2022, when the ACFT is formally and officially implemented, for many soldiers, two-and-a-half years will have elapsed between physical fitness tests!
Is the ACFT replacing the APFT?
The Army unveiled its plan to replace the current three-event APFT with the more challenging, six-event ACFT in July 2018 and completing a yearlong field test of the ACFT in late September 2019 that involved 63 battalions of active-duty, National Guard and Reserve soldiers.
Is the army APFT still valid?
For now, soldiers have to take that test only for data collection purposes, but their last recorded APFT score remains valid for any purpose requiring a passing fitness score through next March.
