The taimen is the world's largest salmonid. Once found over large areas of Russia, Mongolia, and China, the species is threatened by overfishing and habitat destruction.

Where do you catch taimen?

Mongolia likely has the world's healthiest taimen populations. Due in part to our conservation efforts, the fishing has never been better. We catch and release hundreds of taimen annually. Every angler definitely has a chance to catch monster fish.

Can you eat taimen fish?

As these are basically a big trout, we can eat them like trout. Baking, broiling, grilling, smoking and pan frying all work well for Taimen. The fish is so large, though, that steaks are usually more readily available.
