Not all KVM switching systems are secure, however. While they eliminate desktop clutter by allowing a single keyboard/mouse/ monitor to be used to access multiple systems, unsecured KVM systems are at risk from both intentional and unintentional security vulnerabilities.
Are KVM switches safe?
While many government IT security administrators have started deploying KVMs to address inefficiencies of non-switched secured desktops, not all KVMs are highly secure, making them vulnerable to malicious use through: USB peripheral vulnerabilities.
Are KVM switches obsolete?
A KVM switch isn't quite that archaic. It's short for "keyboard, video, and mouse," and they're still handy even with all the mod-cons at our disposal. Times are changing, however. You no longer need a dedicated KVM switch for your multi-system setup.
