Take levofloxacin with water, at the same time each day. Drink extra fluids to keep your kidneys working properly while taking this medicine. You may take levofloxacin tablets with or without food. Take levofloxacin oral solution (liquid) on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.

How many days should you take levofloxacin?

500 mg taken every 24 hours for 10–14 days or 750 mg taken every 24 hours for 5 days. Your dose will depend on bacteria causing the infection. This drug should not be used in children younger than 17 years for this condition. The kidneys of older adults may not work as well as they used to.
